About Me

Contractors Keep Us Sheltered

Look up at the ceiling over your head, and also think about the roof above it. You are lucky to have that shelter. Of course, you worked hard to afford it, but that point aside — someone else worked really hard to build it. Our point here is that without construction workers and contractors, we would not have homes in which to live. We all value our homes, and of course, we value the other buildings we spend time in, too. Everyone has a different way of showing their appreciation for this work. Our way is to write about construction on this blog. Your way could be reading about construction on this same blog!

Want A New Fireplace? 2 Types To Choose From

by Glenda Perkins

A fireplace can add ambience and beauty to a room. If you are looking for a new fireplace for your home, there are many types available on the market today. Below are two of these types so you can start shopping.

Glass Linear Fireplace

A glass linear fireplace is beautiful and looks great no matter what type of home you have. This type is long and rectangular in shape and is surrounded by metal. The front is made of reflective glass. This fireplace works great in any room in your home including the living room, dining room, and bedrooms.

A linear fireplace is a gas fireplace and is installed flush with the wall. You can purchase more than one glass linear fireplace for the room. For example, you can line them up so that they connect to each other on the entire length of a wall or you can stack them on top of each other. They install well on a variety of materials. These fireplaces are safe, as the glass does not get hot. This is especially beneficial if you have children. A popular type of glass linear fireplace is direct vent. This means the gases that come from the fireplace are expelled through a vent that is installed in the wall or on the roof.

Stone Contemporary Fireplace

Another type of fireplace you will find is the stone contemporary fireplace.  This is often built by putting stones around a fireplace that is already installed in your home. This can completely change the look of your fireplace, and you can choose from a variety of stones.  For example, you can choose slate, marble, and granite. Slate is durable and will last a long time. Marble is beautiful, durable, and resistant to stains. Granite is commonly used. This is because granite is durable and resistant to scratches, chips, and cracks. Granite is also heat tolerant and works great with wood or gas fireplaces.  It can be difficult to install the stones on your own unless you are experienced. Because of this, you should hire a company that makes stone contemporary fireplaces to do this for you.

The company that you hire can help you choose the right type of stone for your home and your budget. They can also explain to you in detail how the stones will be installed. Once the fireplace is finished, you can place a mantel over the fireplace to complete the project.

There are other types of fireplaces available that you can install in your home, such as electric fireplaces, gas fireplaces, and much more.
